Coqui continues its support of murals in the neighborhood of Calle Loiza, where we hope that the beautiful artwork by local artists from Puerto Rico will help stimulate this business district.
Elegel Group and Coqui Charities are working on the next phase of community transformation murals under the LAS50 banner. LAS50 was modeled after NYC’s 100 Gates Program (100gates.nyc), adapting it first as a regional program in the Calle Loiza/Santurce neighborhood with plans to go national. LAS50 uses urban contemporary art primarily on rolling doors to bring interest to an area, incent clean up, restoration and illumination, and instill community pride.
Coqui Charities is sponsoring this phase of the program by financing the production of 10 gates to be divided between Humacao and Calle Loiza. Artists and locations will be selected in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned.
