Directed by Stefan Langan, of Elegel Group, the Humacao Grita Mural Project was created to revitalize the local community after the eye of Hurricane Maria devastated this community. A selected group of artists representing multiple cultures and urban art styles are participating, featuring the theme of the project, “peace,” which will be reflected in much of their art. Humacao Grita will celebrate their mural artwork on November 11, 2018 in an outdoor gallery and festival to bring attention to the city, promote tourism, an instill community pride.

LAS50 Calle Loiza Project

Elegel Group and Coqui Charities are working on the next phase of community transformation murals under the LAS50 banner. LAS50 was modeled after NYC's 100 Gates Program (100gates.nyc), adapting it first as a regional program in the Calle Loiza/Santurce neighborhood with plans to go national. LAS50 uses urban contemporary art primarily on rolling doors to bring interest to an area, incent clean up, restoration and illumination, and instill community pride. Coqui Charities is sponsoring this phase of the program by financing the production of 10 gates to be divided between Humacao and Calle Loiza. Artists and locations will be selected in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned.
