Chicago Mosaic School students and participants via the Chicago Puerto Rican Cultural Center are creating mosaic peace signs as part of an installation project for Humacao, Puerto Rico. 100 beautiful mosaic peace signs are being created for a mural in the town that was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017. Residents from Humacao collected broken terra cotta roof tiles after the hurrricane and delivered them to the mosaic school in Chicago. A few of Chicago Mosaic School faculty will be traveling to Humacao in February to install the pieces on buildings in Humacao neighborhoods and meet with local mosaic artists.
